What is Meditation for Chronic Stress, Anxiety and Trauma?

Meditation for Chronic Stress, Anxiety and Trauma explores how we can transform perceived obstacles or difficulties into vehicles for awakening.

 

This course takes a gentler approach to meditation. It focuses on cultivating the art of meeting ourselves where we are and teaches us how to utilize any state of mind for our practice.

 

During the course we explore

+the nervous system’s relationship to stress and trauma

+the concepts of choice, agency and personal empowerment

+The teaching of equanimity- how to meet the world (and ourselves) as they are

+ The role of calming, resting & relaxing the body, heart & mind

+ Befriending our body & learning to feel somatically

The course curriculum is based on Kate’s own personal experience with PTSD, from deep study of the ancient Buddha Wisdom, from her years in Emergency Services witnessing the suffering of humanity, and from working with hundreds of clients with their own forms of trauma.

Everyone experiences some kind of trauma in their lives, and we can all benefit from understanding its effects more deeply. It is important to understand that a spiritual practice does not alter the unfolding circumstances of life, rather it alters our relationship to them. Yoga and Buddhist practice won’t negate the effects of past trauma- because nothing can reverse time or take away what we have seen or experienced. Instead, these practices transform our experiences into wisdom. 

The stress, difficult times and difficult experiences of our lives can feel like unwanted burdens, yet the reality is that they can offer us a pathway to go deeper into self study and to refine our practices, both of which lead us to wisdom. They teach us to surrender more fully to “what is”, and in doing so they can be a gateway to truth. 

Through difficulty, we can learn how to flow through life’s up’s and down’s with grace. We can learn to accept who we are and how we function. We can stop berating, criticising and condemning ourselves and others. We can learn to let compassion, forgiveness, tolerance and acceptance bloom within our hearts.
